  22. |                        Installation Notes                           |
  23. +=====================================================================+
  24. 1) You will need the OS/2 Warp 3.0 Corrective Service Facility boot
  25.    disks to install this FixPak. These files should be available from
  26.    the same place you got this FixPak from as
  27.  
  28.    WARPBDSK.1DK - Corrective Service Facility disk 1 (SP DISK 1)
  29.    WARPBDSK.2DK - Corrective Service Facility disk 2 (SP DISK 2)
  30.  
  31.       - or -
  32.  
  33.    WKICKR.ZIP   - File compressed with PKZIP. Contains both of the
  34.                   above disk images. Requires PKUNZIP or UNZIP to
  35.                   extract original files from compressed file.
  36.  
  37.    To create diskettes from the disk image files you need LOADDSKF.EXE.
  38.    This is also available from the same place you got this FixPak from
  39.    as
  40.  
  41.    LDF.COM      - Self extracting file that will create LOADDSKF.EXE.
  42.                   Place in a separate directory on your harddisk then
  43.                   enter LDF.
  44.  
  45.       - or -
  46.  
  47.    LOADDSKF.ZIP - File compressed with PKZIP, contains LOADDSKF.EXE.
  48.                   Requires PKUNZIP or UNZIP to extract original files
  49.                   from compressed file.
  50.  
  51.    Use LOADDSKF.EXE to create the diskettes. For each disk image place
  52.    a 2MB HD (1.44MB formatted) diskette in A:
  53.  
  54.    a. Enter LOADDSKF WARPBDSK.1DK A: /F
  55.         Label as Corrective Service Facility disk 1
  56.    b. Enter LOADDSKF WARPBDSK.2DK A: /F
  57.         Label as Corrective Service Facility disk 2
  58.    c. Enter LOADDSKF XR0W005.1DK A: /F
  59.         Label as FixPak XR0W005 Corrective Service disk 1 (CSF DISK 1)
  60.    d. Enter LOADDSKF XR0W005.2DK A: /F
  61.         Label as FixPak XR0W005 Corrective Service disk 2 (CSF DISK 2)
  62.    e. Enter LOADDSKF XR0W005.3DK A: /F
  63.         Label as FixPak XR0W005 Corrective Service disk 3 (CSF DISK 3)
  64.  
  65. 2) This FixPak will be a prerequisite too all future OS/2 Warp 3.0 FixPaks.
  66.  
  67. 3) If you installed OS/2 Warp 3.0 from a CD-ROM some files being updated
  68.    will have the Read Only attribute set. This will cause the update
  69.    program to ask you if you want them replaced. Answer OK.
  70.  
  71. 4) If the following files are not updated on your system after this
  72.    FixPak has been applied then you must install this FixPak a second
  73.    time without backing out the first install. This will correctly update
  74.    these files:
  75.  
  76.           USERS.SCR
  77.           WINOS2.COM
  78.           WINSMSG.DLL
  79.  
  80.    To check if the files were updated look at the SERVICE.LOG in the
  81.    \OS2\INSTALL directory. There should be two entries for each file.
  82.    The entries should look (for example) like one of the following:
  83.  
  84.          Archiving for x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USERS.SCR.
  85.          Updating x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USERS.SCR
  86.  
  87.                          or
  88.  
  89.          Archiving for x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USERS.SCR.
  90.          Deferring service of x:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USERS.SCR
  91.  
  92.      (x: is the drive where Microsoft Windows is installed.)
  93.  
  94.    If the entries are not there then you need to repeat the install of
  95.    this FixPak as mentioned above. Do not back out the first install
  96.    of this fixpak. Just repeat the install a second time.
  97.  
  98. 5) The Current CSD level for the "IBM OS/2 Base Operating System" will
  99.    not be changed by installation of this FixPak. Look at the file
  100.  
  101.          \OS2\INSTALL\SERVICE.LOG
  102.  
  103.    for information relating to the installation of this (or any) FixPak
  104.    on your system. To see the CSD level and other related information
  105.    use the SYSLEVEL command.
  106.  
  107. 6) If you get a "No files to service" message while applying this FixPak
  108.    then the Current CSD level or Component ID of the "IBM OS/2 Base
  109.    Operating System" is incorrect. Correct values must be:
  110.  
  111.          Current CSD level: XR03000
  112.               Component Id: 562260100
  113.  
  114. 7) See the README2 file on this same disk for a list of APARs fixed.
  115.

  117. |                        Installation Process                         |
  118. +=====================================================================+
  119. To INSTALL this fix perform the following steps:
  120.  
  121. 1. Insert Corrective Service Facility disk 1 in A:.
  122.  
  123. 2. Open an OS/2 window or Full Screen.
  124.  
  125. 3. Enter a:\service and press the ENTER key.
  126.  
  127.    Note: DO NOT boot CSF disk 1. This method is only for use with
  128.          CID install and requires a response file tailored to your
  129.          system.
  130.  
  131. 4. Follow displayed instructions. When prompted to insert Corrective
  132.    Service disk 1 (not Corrective Service Facility disk 1) place
  133.    FixPak XR0W005 disk 1 in a:. Repeat for disk 2 and disk 3.
  134.  
  135. 5. If this is the first OS/2 v3.0 Warp FixPak you have applied to
  136.    this system then enter the path where a copy of replaced file(s)
  137.    will be stored in the ARCHIVE directory, Ex. D:\ARCHIVE.
  138.  
  139.    Note: This ARCHIVE directory is not related to the ARCHIVES directory
  140.          built into OS/2 Warp 3.0. Please specify a different path.
  141.  
  142.    If this is not the first OS/2 Warp v3.0 FixPak then enter the path
  143.    where a copy of replaced file(s) will be stored in the BACKUP directory,
  144.    EX. D:\BACKUP.
  145.  
  146.    For either case make sure there is a sufficient space available. Even
  147.    though these files are kept in compressed (PACK2) format they will
  148.    require 4.5MB of disk space.
  149.  
  150. 6. Click on "OK".
  151.  
  152. 7. Select NO for redisplay of "Product List" when displayed (after
  153.    the first part of the FixPak apply process has completed).
  154.  
  155. 8. Close the Corrective Service Facility window.
  156.  
  157. 9. Shut down and reboot your system.
